The timeless trend of smokey eyes and nude Lips, a natural glowing makeup paired with that perfect modern Nude, or how about that on-trend statement look unto itself?…Either way, it’s without a doubt Nude lips are here to slay!
When choosing and applying the right shade it is important to think about skin tone and preparation of lips. A basic guideline to follow is if you have cool undertones or fair skin go for rosy pinks or Rasberry shades. If you have warmer undertones (medium/dark) skin tone go for peachy pinks, beige or golden shades, and if you have Neutral you can pretty much wear both cool and warm shades.
Contrary to the above information just keep in mind that this is a general rule. It can also be so beautiful when you combine warm and cool tones together so have fun and experiment what looks good. There really are no rules in makeup as It’s freedom of expression.
For a natural lip shade, try going for one too two shades deeper than your actual lip color.
Unless you are specifically aiming to achieve special effects makeup, stay away from very pale beiges, creams or white as you will look washed out, lifeless, sick or like a zombie….need I go on?
For best results of that perfect pout be sure to exfoliate and apply lip balm. You can also neutralize them first by using a concealer to match your exact skin tone.
My go-to colors are the Dior Rouge collection #136 delicate Matte and #772 classic Matte for warm skin tones.
These beautiful matte lipsticks are unique because they look Matte yet they feel creamy.
My other go-to colors great for cooler skin tones are Charlotte Tilbury’s Penelope Pink, Nars Cosmetics in Rosecliff and Dior rouge #60 premier.
If you are unsure of your undertone (warm or cool) the easiest way to tell is to look at the veins on your wrist.
COOL: If you have more blue tone veins, have pinky-red or bluish hue to your skin, silver jewelry compliment you and you tend to burn before you tan, cooler shades are for you.
WARM: If your veins are more green, you compliment Gold jewelry, your skin hue is more yellow, or olive and you tend to tan more easily, warm is your undertone.
If you are unsure then you’re probably Neutral.
